Searching for Strauss

I am looking for a concert featuring only Strauss music. Originally, we had a couple of outstanding seats booked at the Volksoper for January 7th, but they changed their programming, so we cancelled our tickets. We will be in Vienna on the nights of January 6th and 7th. I know that there are some concerts available which combine Strauss music with that of Mozart or some other composer. We don%26#39;t want that. Only the lively music of Strauss. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions anyone has. Thanks in advance.

Most concerts are a mix of Strauss and Mozart

Now even more Mozart as 2006 is a 250th anniversary.

You will find numerous peopla selling tickets to various concerts in front of just about every tourist site in the city.

Look at their propaganda and then decide which one is the best for you.

Even the famed New Years Concert will include Mozart this year.

Thanks again for helping me out with a question. Now, I have another one which concerns the New Years Concert which you mentioned in Vienna. In Germany, we watch it on TV every year. But my question is this: My husband said that his favourite episode of this concert happened years ago when a composer by the name of Robert Stolz conducted the orchestra. He said that it was shortly after that that the man died. Since it meant so much to my husband, I wanted to know if there is a way I can purchase an authorized copy of the concert. Do you have any ideas for me? It would be a nice surprise for him.

You talk about good music.

This concert had to be in the early 1970´s as Robert Stolz died in 1975.

I do not know if the New years Concerts were recorded then.

You could try the Music Shop in the Arcade at the State Opera House ( Kartnerstrasse side)

The EMI Music store on Kartnerstrasse.

Doblinger Music House- I think it is Bruennergasse just near Graben. It is a small street between Habsburggasse and Dorothergasse.

If you are in Vienna on the 4th of January- a concert at the Musikverein will perform works of many composers including Strauss and Stolz.

Due to work obligations we will fly into Vienna on Friday morning and leave on Sunday late afternoon, the 8th of January. That means that we can use Saturday morning to visit the stores you mentioned, to see if they may possibly carry something like that.
