Christmas Day

I arrive on the 24th late 1900 and we have only christmas day and part of the 26th in Innsbruck, Travelling with wife and young son 5yr. Will anything be open christmas daay, and anything to do or see. I know the christmas markets wont be, (understandable). I would love to know any places open for meals, we are staying at the Hilton, so I imagine that will be open for meals, but I was wondering if the city will shut down totally.

Thanks for any reply

I have read about a bobsled run that opens on Christmas Day and I believe it is close to Innsbruck.

Most everything will be closed by the time you arrive on the 24 th as that evening is the traditional celebration of Christmas with families gathering together.

I would suggest that you eat at the hotel as looking elsewhere could be futile.

The 25th , of course is a Holiday but more tourist things wil be open.

Your hotel is near to the %26quot; Old Town%26quot; just a few minutes walk and is worth a visit. A Nice big Christmas tree and nice old buildings . You will probably find some tourist shops and restaurants open there. The Churches in this area will also be open and are worth a visit as is the Imperial Palace ( probably open)

So some things to do.

I think the Christmas Market was open too but not certain.

Ask at the hotel - they would probably know.

You can take the train to Seefeld- a beautiful scenic ride up in the mountains- a good ski vacation resort - travel time 30 +-

minutes. Horse - drawn sleigh rides available too . As a resort most restaurants will be open- some shops probably too!

Oh! The Hotelhas a Casino in it! Fun to visit if only to %26quot; People Watch%26quot; Not like the USA- small and not too many machines!

Sorry to tell you that the 26th is also a Holiday.

If you did not see the Palace- perhaps a visit

Visit the small town of Ebbs only 45 min drive from Innsbruck. Take autobahn in %26quot;Munich%26quot; direction, take %26quot;Kufstein North%26quot; exit, continue to Ebbs to FOHLENHOF EBBS, wonderful Haflinger horse show program at world famous farm. Great day for children, one of must beautiful of all Austrian churches in the town, all restaurants open, for info contact Ebbs Tourismus or www.Fohlenhof Ebbs and see event schedule.

Have a lovely holiday. Maybe See you there.
