How long to stay in Vienna, Prague and or budapest?

Planning for next summer, and will have one week to spend in that area. We are a couple with a 5 yr old boy. How long should we stay in Vienna, Prague, Budapest? We will be more interested in sights, parks, churchs and kids places if there was any unique ones. Thanks

For Vienna ; I suggest you look at the following website for much information

www.info.wien.at

It will provide good information about sights and other good tips.

A visit to Schonbrunn Palace is a must.

The carriage ride or small tram through the gardens is fun and a boy would probably enjoy this as much as you would like the Palace.

An excelent zoo is also part of this complex and is a good place for all.

The Fine Arts Museum, Belvedere Palace, Museum Quarter and Albertina are liked by many art lovers.

Vienna is a city of parks- look along the Ring- The Stadt Park, Volksgarten, Burggarten all offer a quiet walk and beautiful flowers.

Look for them as you take streetcar #1 or 2.

The Volksgarten has several sandboxes, swings, etc. for kids and you will see many families there.

Perhaps it is best to take a ride on the streetcars #1 or 2 after you arrive to acquaint you with the city.

These lines run around the %26quot; Ring%26quot; where many tourist sights can be found. It is a good and quick way to learn the city and see what may interest you the most.

A visit to the Prater ( city amusement park) could also be fun for all including a ride on the giant Ferris Wheel.

Much more to do but your time will be limited if you wish to see these 3 cities in a week.

Did you think of eliminating one city to allow more sightseeing and less travel time ?

If not, at least 2 days in each with the third day allocated to the one most interesting to you is probably OK

All three cities are most interesting and unique to themselves.

Thanks for your advice. I think I will drop Budapest this time. Now which to begin with Prague or Vienna? We will have practically from Friday to Thursday to visit both cities. In other words, how is Vienna in summer weekend and Monday? Sites, museums, attractions are all open? Or should I start with Prague in weekend then weekdays? Thanks

I would suggest that you base your decision on which city to visit first or last on your transportation alternatives - example which has the best connections from where to where.

Where do you come from before these visits and where are you going to.

Vienna probably has more things , such as shops closed on Sundays than Prague, but generally there is so much to do in each city that this is a minor item.

Look to the Vienna tourist website for opening days for those things you must see!

Example , some Museums close either Monday or Tuesday.

But with enough days in each city this is not a problem.

If you are flying back to Canada after this visit perhaps Vienna is best seen last as it would have better flight connections.
