A group of us at work is thinking about planning a trip to Innsbruck. I wanted to know how far away the city is from the actual resort area? Also where should we stay at night? What part of town? Any hotel recomendations (reasonable prices). We are thinking about a NYC flight to INN directly. Anyone have any suggestions on a website with good flight/hotel packages for this destination? Also, how does the ski pass work for multiday lifts?
Thanks in advance....

The city is surrounded by a ring of eight small ski resorts. most have a dozen or so good runs, are very cheap (15-20 euro) and can be reached by city bus. Axamer Lizum, Patscherkofel, and Nordpark are all very nice. There is a multiday pass that includes a day or two at St. Anton, but I have never used it.

Kitzbuhel and St. Anton are both about 40 minutes away (in opposite directions). There is bus service to St. Anton/lech/zeurs.
I have stayed at Hotel Tautermann. It was fine, nothing fancy. Clean and family run, 80Euro a night. Small parking lot, short steep walk down the hill, across the river and into the centrum.
My best meals were at Panitum, a small thai restaraunt downtown. Also liked the Safari Bar-good beer, pool and internet.

Information about skiing in the Innsbruck area can be found at: skisnowboardeurope.com/innsbruck/index.html
Nordpark and Patscherkofel can be reached from downtown by tram and Axamer Lizum by bus. Axamer Lizum and Patscherkofel hosted the Olympics, we have skied both, and each have some beginner, good intermediate and expert terrain. We have been up to Nordpark and it appeared to be strong intermediate to expert. Axamer Lizum is mostly above tree line so on some slopes, to be on the trail, you follow the bamboo poles and orange ropes or the person in front of you.
Possible hotels would be the Hotel Innsbruck - http://www.hotelinnsbruck.com/indexeng.html and the Hotel Weisses Kreuz - http://www.weisseskreuz.at/en/index.htm
