Hotel Nonntal/Golden Krone?

Does anyone have the web site for Hotel/Pension Nonntal and/or the Golden Krone. Have you stayed at either? Any info about them?

I%26#39;ll start off by saying I%26#39;ve not stayed at either of these hotels but I have seen them in passing ...

Goldene Krone%26#39;s website is %26quot;under construction%26quot;. One source of info about it is the offiical Tourist Info website here

http://www2.salzburg.info/hotels_217.htm

if you type in %26quot;Goldene Krone%26quot; under %26quot;name%26quot; it will narrow the list to that hotel. The will give you information about the hotel including a description of room fittings. It looks a fairly basic, typical Austrian hotel. The area is convenient, close to the old town and the Linzergasse has good shops and restaurants near by. I often stay on the Linzergasse in Salzburg

I had more trouble locating the Nonntal! The location isn%26#39;t bad and there are buses that go along the Nonntalerhauptstrasse to take you into town as well as being able to walk. It wouldn%26#39;t be a whole lot longer to walk than the Goldene Krone.

I found this description of it

…yahoo.com/p-travelguide-38879-action-descri…

The alleged website is www.hotel-nonntal.co.at but it seems to be down! Ah, here it is!

…eunet.at/pension10/english_welcome.html

It might be cooler being out of the centre, and this looks quite leafy. But sometimes it%26#39;s cooler if you%26#39;re near the river (in the centre)! My poor mother nearly conked out when I took her to Hellbrunn on the outskirts of town one hot summer%26#39;s day - shoof, that was hot (July again). And this one doesn%26#39;t seem hugely cheap either.

Oh, and one tip - if you can%26#39;t get air cond, at least get a room with a minibar so you can get cool drinks when you need %26#39;em! They%26#39;re also rather few and far between in Salzburg - the Kasererbraeu has them as does Elefant (expensive) and a few others. Bear in mind that sometimes the ancient buildings are cooler than modern too - I recently stayed in Pension Chiemsee which is REALLY ancient and it was delightfully cool even though it was pretty warm weather when we were there - very thick walls and marble floors!

But hope that helps!

Thanks Rol - you%26#39;re really a great help with all your advice - especially about the mini-bar. I%26#39;ll be checking all this out!

Danke Rol! That was the first website for Hotel Nonntal I have found and the hotel looks really nice. Unfortunately, the email I sent was returned. Do you happen to have a good email address?

I used office@hotel-nonntal.co.at but it didn%26#39;t work. thanks.

No, sorry, I don%26#39;t see any other email address in the sites where the hotel is mentioned and it does seem that their own site hotel-nonntal.co.at is on the fritz. Perhaps you could try sending them a fax if you have access to a fax machine? They don%26#39;t seem to be listed in the phone book either (www.herold.at), or on the official Salzburg tourist information website (which makes me wonder whether they%26#39;re actually trading at the moment).

Thanks - I think I%26#39;ll wait a day and try again, and if that doesn%26#39;t work, then find a fax and try that.

Sorry to say - maybe you know meanwhile - Hotel Nonntal is not open any more ...
