how to go to koniggsee and berchtesgaden from salzburg

I%26#39;d like to go to berchtesgaden. Can anyone tell me how to get there from salzburg by public transport? about where to catch the bus or train, where to get off? and how to go ahead to koniggsee for st%26#39;Bathoroma church. and where to get to the electric boat? thanks so much...

Hi!

For timetables, go to www.bahn.de --%26gt; Internat. Guests

The busstop at Königssee is: Königssee/Parkplatz (lake königsee, parking lot), from there, everybody has to walk to the electric boat station, it%26#39;s about 5-10 mins. walk.

Hbf. stands for Hauptbahnhof, which means Main Railway Station.

For lake Königssee and the boats to St. Bartholomä, where you can only go by boat or foot), go to www.koenigssee.de

The winter-timetable for the boats:

bayerische-seenschifffahrt.de/01_ks/ks_fpp/k…

Mind that Linie A and Linie B run daily from 25 Dec. on.

|||

And the cheapest ticket will be the Bayern-Ticket... which includes local trains and busses in Bavaria.

bahn.de/-S:PtVOZ9:dGHR1dNNQ91eONNNNQNM/p/vie…

You can purchase this ticket at Salzburg Hauptbahnhof as Salzburg is the border station between Austria and Germany.

Hi Robbi..

I understand you told me that:

1. go to railway station at salzburg and buy the Bayern-ticket for lake Konigsee there. and get off at....(what it%26#39;s call).

2. get into the boat to the church. how far from the railway to the boat station?

3. which way is easier bus or train?

4. do I go by myself saver than with tour?

many thanks to you

What exactly are you planning?

Go to: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

Enter:

FROM: Salzburg

TO: Sankt Bartholomäe

then visit Sankt Bartholomäe take a ship back to Seelände, walk to the bus stop and take a bus to Berchtesgaden, visit Berchtesgaden, and then take a bus or train back to Salzburg.

I%26#39;d visit Berchtesgaden after lake Königssee, as the ships don%26#39;t run after 5pm in winter...

You can hop on the bus at different stops in Salzburg, just click on %26quot;BUS 840%26quot; or whatever and you will see all stops.

Don%26#39;t worry, you won%26#39;t get lost... and I think it%26#39;s much more fun to do it on your own and will be definately cheaper.

Hello,

Several years ago when we traveled with our students, we%26#39;d do a day trip to Berchtesgadenerland from Salzburg very similar to what you are planning. You can see details of that trip at warobison.com/berch.htm

Basically, we%26#39;d catch the RVO bus at its Mirabel stop in Salzburg and ride to the Berchtesgaden station. We%26#39;d immediately catch the bus to the Konigsee car park stop (15 minutes or so), walk to the boat station (about ten minutes, mostly downhill). We%26#39;d ride out to St. B, get out and walk around a bit and then catch the next boat back to the Konigsee station. After taking the bus back to Berchtesgaden, we%26#39;d get another bus for a ride out to see the Ramsau church (less than 20 minutes, I think), and then get the bus back to Berchtesgaden. There, we%26#39;d catch the bus to the Salzbergwerk (the salt mine) for our visit to the salt mine. Afterwards, we%26#39;d visit in the town of Berchtesgaden for a while before catching the bus back to Salzburg.

You can travel by train between Salzburg and Berchtesgaden, but it%26#39;s slower and might require a change in Freilassing.

We bought day tickets from the driver when we%26#39;d get on in Salzburg. The ticket is good for all the RVO buses you%26#39;ll use that day. It now costs 8 euros for adults, 4 for children; there is a family ticket, too, I think, but we%26#39;ve never used that.

In addition to the German rail timetable that has been mentioned, you can go to the following address to get printable PDF files for all the bus routes:

www.rvo-bus.de/fahrplan/fahrpaln.html

The lines you%26#39;ll want are 840 (9540) for Salzburg-Berchtesgaden-Salzburg (and for the salt mine), 841 (9541) for Konigsee, and if you want to visit the Ramsau church 846 (9546).

{{The rvo-bus site also has the schedules for buses in the Fuessen area (for the castles) and in the Garmisch area(for visiting Ettal, Oberammergau, and Linderhof).}}

Good luck and have fun planning,

W. A. Robison

A correction to the address I posted in the reply above-- It should be warobison.com/berch.html rather than htm. Sorry about that.

Thanks to Robbi for posting the web address for the Konigsee boats. It%26#39;s been eight or nine years since we last to the trip out to St. Bartholomae, and looking at the site makes me want to return.

Happy travels to all.
