Sound of Easter Concert Series at Theater an der Wien

Has anyone been to concerts at Theater an der Wien?

We%26#39;ll be in Vienna in April, the week prior to Easter. Went to site below for listing of concerts that week:

nethotels.com/release20/eventdetail_new.asp…

Timing works better than opera at Volksoper, not a fan of Wagner which is at Staatsoper.

Any reviews much appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes, I go to this every year and it%26#39;s very enjoyable. The official site, www.osterklang.at has the full programme. Theater an der Wien is fine - but it%26#39;s worth springing for the expensive seats in the parterre because the legroom situation is pretty dire in the cheaper seats (it is a very old theater and built for the days when people were on a smaller scale!)

I%26#39;m also going to the Kremerata Baltica concert at the Musikverein on 11 April (they%26#39;re always good!) and if you%26#39;re there on Saturday 15th you might note there is a %26quot;prequel%26quot; %26quot;Spring in Vienna%26quot; concert by the Wiener Symphoniker at the Musikverein (not on the Osterklang programme but tickets can be purchased at www.musikverein.at) This concert is usually really good and the Symphoniker are fantastic.

Roley-Regarding the Theater an der Wien- many new renovations should have improved the theater.

A big re-opening comes during January.

md115 -check schedule of events carefully - many are not held at this Theater but at other venues.

Thanks Roley and Vertical. I%26#39;ve read many of your previous posts, which have helped me a great deal!

Is it neccessary to purchase tickets ahead of time, or can I wait unti I arrive April 11?

Once again, many thanks.

I would suggest purchasing tickets ahead of time - I once tried to buy a ticket the day before an event but they were sold out (an Easter concert in the Minoritenkirche). It%26#39;s quite a popular series and not just with tourists, I think. I bought my tix already (ahem) thru the Osterklang website and it does give you some opportunity to choose your seats from a seating plan which is good (a more complicated system than the Volksoper/Staatsoper but you can muck about with it and figure it out!) They mail them out to you (I%26#39;m in the UK), which is useful and avoids the hassle of collecting them in person. If you buy tix from the Musikverein, you do need to collect them in person but can do so on the night of the concert from the evening box office.

I was in T.a.d.Wien over 200 times.

try to get good seat in Theater an der Wien. On the cheaper seats the view is really not good compared eg. to Raimundtheater.
