I am in the beginning stages of planning a two-week trip to Austria for next December. Since we have both Hilton and Marriott points, I would like to use these for some of our accommodations. However, I do not want to be located in bad locations for getting around and visiting places of interest to first-time visitors. Can anyone recommend either Marriott or Hilton hotels that have good locations in any Austrian city -- or any other European city for that matter? Many thanks.

The Marriott and Hilton both have hotels in good locations in Vienna.
The Hilton has three hotels here. Only the Hilton Danube is in a poor location forcing one to take a taxi or hotel shuttle anywhere. Public transport is nearby but it takes a transfer and a ride of 25-35 minutes to get to the city center.
The Hilton Stadt Park was recently renovated but I have heard poor reports lately about it.
The Hilton Plaza is on the Ringstrasse ( main circular city street) on not far from anything. To me, the best choice.
The Marriott is also on the Ring , across the street from the Stadt Park near public transport and within a 5-10 minute walk to city center.
