I am looking for a nice, small hotel that may be off the beaten path. I have stayed in Vienna many times but always at the large, established hotels. Not looking for something cheap, just a bit smaller and more exclusive. Any ideas?

You must look carefully for the entrance-
good location in the First District- good restaurants nearby
only 9 rooms - look at the reviews on Trip Advisor
A little bigger 60-70 rooms
Style Hotel on Herrengasse - across the street from the Cafe Central 3 minutes to the Hofburg - nice bar

Try the Kaiserin Elisabeth. It is in the old city, on a very quiet street. It is four stars, but reasonably priced, especially this time of year (about 120E/night incl. breakfast). It is a charming place and I have enjoyed it on two occasions.
