travelling in ausrtia

hi

i%26#39;m travelling to austria on 22/05/2005 for 10 nights. i am flying into vienna and out of salzburg. i would really love some advice on where to go and how long to stay in each town, i%26#39;m thinking of zel am see for summer skiing. any advice i would really appreciate

10 days is nice.I recommend 3-4 days for Vienna (public transport); will you rent a car then? pass by Wachau valley (of the Danube), Melk (monastery), then go to Salzkammergut (a picturesque lake district), e.g. Bad Ischl, Hallstatt, and Aussee, continue via Ennstal valley (Schladming) towards Zell am See, i.e.Kaprun for summer skiing on the glacier for a day or two, and spare 1-2 days for the beautiful city of Salzburg (no car needed) before you fly out.

If you want more, there is a lot more to see. What kind of things do you like most?

i am just getting used to this web site. we wont have a car. should we visit innsbruck??? for summer skiing would you recommend zel am see we are thinking of staying at hotel schwebebahnfor 3 nights. should we go vienna - zel am see- to salzburg, or vienna - salzburg - zel am see. how long would you recommend we stay in zel am see we really only want to go skiing...

do u know of any nice central hotels in vienna and salzburg

If you travel by train, Zell am See is easy to get to; a nice village and setting, little to see, 2 days seem o.k.I don´t know the hotel you mentioned. Summer skiing is on Kitzsteinhorn glacier (hope for good weather!)in Kaprun, approx. 5km south of Zell -transfer needed. Railway goes Vienna-Salzburg-Zell-Innsbruck. Innsbruck is very nice (1 day?), in case you like to see many different places; however take your time in Vienna and Salzburg. Difficult to recommend hotels without knowing personal preferences.

you are very good. i have seen a hotel which has gotten great reviews in vienna its hotel zur wiener staatsope, do u know this hoter?? we would love a nice, clean central hotel. our only preference is that it be nice and central to vienna%26#39;s nightlife and restaurants.
