Hi. We are a group of 4 planning a ski weekend in Europe. At the moment, we are considering Chamonix due to it%26#39;s proximity to Italy (we are going to Bologna directly after skiing) and it%26#39;s non-skiing activities for our wives who do not ski. Spas, shopping and other activities are a must.
There appear to be a lot of places to ski in Austria as well and it does seem quite close to Italy too, so we wanted to ask if some of you who%26#39;ve skiied the region before can share your opinion with us? It%26#39;s for a 3 day weekend in mid-Feb.
Alternatively, if you think there is a better location both skiing and apres-ski, can you suggest where?
Many thanks!!
Eric

I think that Kitzbuehel would be perfect for you. Concerning combining excellent skiing with shopping and apres-ski, Kitzbuehel is probably the best place in Austria, and one of the best in the world. The only problem: Feb. is peak season, it´s all booked up, so you need to be lucky to find a room (the same also in other resorts). Contact the local tourist information: http://www.kitzbuehel.at/english.asp
Mostly motorway from Kitzbuehel to Bologna, easy to drive, but also a good distance. Not as far as Chamonix though.
