route planner

Hello

Help is needed. I need to plan a trip next

Dec/jan for 7-10 days. We are hoping to arrive around the 26th Dec flying to salzburg or munich. We would like to see Salzburg, Styer innsbruck, zell am see plus any other romantic ski villages. We would also like to detour on the romantic road to Rothenburg would this be possible. Can you also hire 4x4 vehicles in austria. Any recommendations on how to plan this route plus suggestions of where to stay would be very much appreciated. I am getting myself bogged down with internet searches. Where would be a good stay for the new year. Thank you for any help. Sue

Fly into Münich. From the airport you can travel to Salzburg by using the Bayern-Ticket. From the airport take the S-8 train to Münich Ost [East] station and change to a train for Salzburg. The ticket, which costs 26 €, is for travel by up to 5 people and is only valid on RE and RB local “commuter” trains. These trains take the same tracks as the faster trains and the travel time is 20 to 30 minutes longer because of more stops but it is a tremondous £ savings. Regular fare in 2nd class ranges from 32.00 € to 25.20 € each. Specific information about the Bayern-Ticket can be found at bahn.de/-S:PtVORd:d9E-jtNNYyadcNNNNPIM/p/vie…

For trains schedules and fares in Germany, use the DB website at http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

For travel from the airpost input From: München Flughafen Terminal To: Salzburg, input a date, time and under “Means of Transport” change the setting to “only local transport”.

For train schedules and fares in Austria, use the ÖBB website at http://www.oebb.at/vip8/oebb/en/

The ÖBB has a ticket called the “1-PLUS-Freizeit-Ticket”. With this ticket the 1st person pays full fare and the next 2 to 5 people pay 50%.

The website for the Romantic Road is www.romantischestrasse.de/showpage.php…
