Intercontinental Hotel

I%26#39;m travelling to Vienna in June 2006 on my honeymoon and staying at the Intercontinental hotel for a few nights. Can someone please let me know if the Intercontinental is central? and I would appreciate any suggestions on %26quot;don%26#39;t miss%26quot; attractions. Thanks

Yes, the Intercontinental is central. As to what not to miss, that%26#39;s really so much a matter of personal interests, that you might be better off getting a good tour book (my preference is the Green Michelin Guide) for Austria and make your selection based on the write-ups.

Many hotels are more central than the Intercont. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the central area or public transport nearby can take you most places ( street car and subway).

Many consider the following %26quot;must sees%26quot;

Hofburg Palace

Schonbrunn Palace

Belvedere Palace

Museum of Fine Arts

A stop in one of the Coffee Houses

a sample of pastry too.

Spanish Riding School ( if in session)

An Opera or Concert

Of course, these things depend on your interests.

look to the Vienna website for much information

www.info.wien.at

You can find most everything there from sights to see, restaurants and things of special interest.

Thanks for the advice...I don%26#39;t mind walking 10-15 minutes to the central area, so that%26#39;s fine.

As for personal interests, mine would be cultures and history. I%26#39;ve been to Spain, Italy, Switzerland and France on a past trip and decided to go to both Vienna and Innsbruck this time.

Thanks again.

I too will be stayig at the Intercontinental this coming March 2006. I chose the property beacuse it is one of the American Expess Fine Hotels and Resort Hotels. Also I was in Innsbruck a couple of years ago, if your looking for excitement this is not the place to go, but that said, it is one of the most beautiful and cleanest cities I have ever visited. Another travel book to check out is the Eye Witness travel books, I buy them for any city I plan on visitng, they are a wealth of information. Happy Honeymoon

For vanguy:

Many fine museums in Vienna-

The main Museum of Fine Arts- a must see

One, often missed is the Liechtenstein Museum.

An ever changing exhibit of the collection in a perfectly restored Palace.

The museums in the Hofburg Palace are also very good- from the crowns of the Emperors to musical instruments.
