Vienna over Christmas

Hi,

we are arriving in Vienna from the Czech Republic on the 24th of December and staying until the 26th.

We are travelling as a group of 8, and were wondering if Vienna shuts down over Xmas or if there will still be bars and restaurants open. Would we have to book a restaurant to eat dinner/lunch on the 25th?

We are not looking to go crazy, just looking to have a few drinks and experience what Vienna has to offer. Will also attempt some sightseeing during the days, are any of the attractions open?

Appreciated,

Vinnie,

New Zealand.

Everything begins to close in early afternoon of the 24th in Vienna- as the major Christmas celebration is that evening.

I would check with your hotel when you arrive to see what may be open when you arrive.

Most tourist sights and many restaurants are open on the 25th. Many easier to find a place to eat and drink on the 25th and 26th.

A nice place to visit is Schonbrunn Palace. Their Christmas Market is also open on the 25th.
