Christmas markets in Vienna

Can anyone advise when the christmas market in vienna starts.

|||

The large Christmas Market at the Rathaus ( City Hall ) opens on November 12.

Others open at various dates and all are open by the end of November.

Some of the nicest Markets:

in front of Schonbrunn Palace

Freyung

Karlsplatz

Spittelburg

Am Hof

I advise you to drink %26quot;Glühwein%26quot; instead of Punsch..its mostly more tasty.

The small christmas markets e.g at Spittelberg have more charme then the big overcrowed one at Rathausplatz

|||

Yeah, but the Rathausplatz one has the best Lebkuchen! :) The stalls right up against the Rathaus proper have the yummiest chocolate-coated Lebkuchen - drool! I quite like the Karlsplatz market too - there%26#39;s plenty of room to move about there.

Rol, counting the days!

How many days, then, Rol?

|||

Thanks for your help.

I am also counting the days.

What is the drinking age in Austria?

Can my 19 yrs old go to a nightclub?

|||

with 19 you are a grown up in Austria

|||

Drinking age-

at 16 -- legal to drink beer and wine

at 18 -- any alcoholic drink

This is not usually strictly enforced unless individual behavior becomes a problem.

|||

Let me see, Ailidh ... a whole 50 days! boo hoo hoo! Fortunately I%26#39;m going to Salzburg for a quick squizz at the markets in a mere 23 days. Phew! Just as well - I only have 2 Kletzenbrot %26amp; 2 Tiroler Zelten left ...

And how many days is it for you??? :)

Roley:

I think that you may be the lover of Lebkuchen.

Do you know of the shop Metzger across the street from Stephensdom?

While you may see candles in their window, they have a very good selection of Lebkucken in a room to the left as you enter. Available most months of the year- very good!

Roley - 42! wow! it%26#39;s nearly here!
