Dear all,
My husband and I are spending our Christmas in Vienna this year. We have been to Austria but not Vienna, so we would like to engage your help please.
Our questions are:
1-Is there a China Town in Vienna? Is there is, where it is? Would the restaurant be opened for the following period: 24-26/12?
2-We will be staying at Degengasse 59, we were told that there are two supermarkets in this area; would these supermarket be opened for when we get there? We reckon we will arrive at around 14:00.
3- I have found out from reading these postings on this forum that Turkey is not big in Austria like in America and the U.K. Austrian are into Goose, which sounds better anyway. Can one buy ready cooked Goose from the supermarket on the 24/12/2005? Or, would I be too late?
4-Should we fail to buy any groceries due to late arrival, in which case we would have to call for a take away? We would appreciate some numbers please. Do restaurants in Vienna do delivery? I have got a feeling from reading this forum that restaurants that do delivery are Indian Restaurant, am I right? Can I have the numbers please?
Please advice, Asia Countries.

1. Sorry no %26quot; China Town%26quot; in Vienna.
By restaurant- assume you mean chinese restaurant - many in Vienna.
You should find them open during the period quoted.
2. The markets will be open in the early afternoon. Most things begin to close by 15- 16:00- so go quickly.
Christmas is celebrated here on the evening of the 24th and naturally everyone wants to be home early.
3.As you mention, you will not find a turkey as you probably know it. You will not see a goose already cooked except perhaps in a specialty shop. - not in the supermarket.
You will find chicken or perhaps a small turkey breast maybe goose parts.
4. From the address you give for your stay, I assume that you stay in an apartment.
Look to the phone book for possible phone numbers or check with whomever is renting you the apartment for such restaurants in that area. - it is not just Indian restaurants that deliver but this is not a big thing in Vienna , especially on Christmas Eve.
Enjoy your stay!
