The Vienna International Centre should be able to help you with renting a flat - have you asked them already ? I knew some people from the VIC few years ago and I remember they mentioned something about it. The prices for appartement are pretty much dependent on the part of Vienna you stay in. Although, for you would be convenient to stay in the 22nd district, Kaisermühlen, near to VIC.

The districts 1, 13, 19 (also 18) are particularly expensive. Districts 1-9 are the most central ones (the 1st ist the city).

There are of course ads for flats in the newspapers (also in the wwweb) but this way wouldn%26#39;t be really convenient for you, as you%26#39;re in Belgrade.

Agree with lin23- check with your employer first at the VIC.

To find a place on your own can be expensive as most agencies charge a fee of up to 3 months rent for finding you an apartment. In addition, most landlords wish a contract of 3-5 years.

thank you all, i will ask them first. probably they have some experience regarding finding a flat.

hi, again, i just want to ask you what did you mean by that Vienna international center should help me? did you mean that they have some accomodation in center it self or i misunderstod you totally?

The Vienna International Center itself has no accomodations- It consists of offices, meeting rooms, restaurant etc.

As your assignment is just one year, I assume that you would be working for a quasi- governmental organization- UN, IAEA or a NGO.

They should have experience with their employees re-locating - thus perhaps access to rentals.

The subway line U-1 has a stop there to permit easy travel from many areas of the city. You can then live in many parts of the city, not just near to the VIC.

As mentioned previously, if you work through a rental agency- a large commission must be paid to them. ( normally 3 months rent)

You can go online to such as

www.remax.at

www.kalandra.at

www.thomas.at

but many companies exist.

they will list apartments for rent- you can check prices, size , comforts etc. to get an idea of what fits your budget and style of living.

Some Vienna newspapers will have advertisements also.
