Airport transfer tips

We are a Dublin couple travelling to Vienna for 6 days on 21st November. Looking for info on getting from the airport to the Starlight Suiten Hotel in Renngasse - does this involve a lot of changing trains, buses etc? Would a taxi be very expensive? Any tips very welcome!

It looks like S7 or CAT airport link to WienMitte/Landstrasse, then U4 to Karlsplatz (2 stops) and U2 to Schottenring (5 stops).

If you get the CAT train, fast and direct, it has its own tickets and you%26#39;ll need to buy a ticket at WienMitte for your Ubahn journey.

If you get the S7 train, the ticket you buy at the airport will cover the whole journey through to Schottenring. You can get one ticket that will last several days. I only know about the 3 day ones but I know there are others. The great advantage is that you can then leap on any bus/tram/Sbahn/Ubahn during the next few days, you never need to wonder if you%26#39;ve got money on you for the trip and you don%26#39;t need to stamp the ticket, except for the first time you use it.

You need to pay just a tiny bit extra for the airport leg of the journey but otherwise everywhere you%26#39;re likely to go to in the city is covered by the one ticket (each).

I suppose whether you want to do the train changin depends on how much luggage you%26#39;ve got. I%26#39;ve found the public transport system very easy and efficient.

hi the U Bahn/subway stop is between Schottentor/Schottenring

it´s easier for you to take the OEBB bus, since the bus stop is next to Schwedenplatz at Morzinplatz which is not far away from Renngasse. The bus stop is just opposite the arrival level.

Price

oneway 6 Euro

Return 11 Euro

here is the link to the bus schedule

You nave several alternatives to reach your hotel from the airport.

Regular Airport Taxi- They are found just outside of Arrivals Hall.

35 Euros + about 30- 40 minutes depending on traffic. Driver will look for a tip too!

Reserved Airport Taxi Service

23- 25 euros. about 30- 40 minutes. Driver will meet you in Arrivals Hall and assist with luggage

You must reserve in advance. You can do this on line.

Several services- both OK

Cat Train ( Dedicated fast airport train)to City Center ( 9 euros per person ) then transfer to U- Bahn or streetcar to hotel ( 1.50 euros. per person) total 21 euros - better to take reserved taxi- no hassle hauling luggage, finding your way, or waiting for next train etc.

S- Bahn

Regular train to city center then as above on public transport 6 euros for two

Cheap but must haul luggage

Airport Bus

Bus runs regularly - about every 20 minutes - You want the one to Schwedenplatz -

Bus is found just outside Arrivals Hall - Get ticket from driver- 6 euro per person.

At Schwedenplatz ( a long walk to Renngasse)

Take streetcar#2 ( 1.5 euro per person) to Borse stop then about a 3 block walk to hotel.

Total cost 15 euro for two.

To me, it is worth several euros more to be delivered directly to the Hotel and avoid hassle of hauling luggage and having to make several changes of conveyance.
