Rail tickets

I%26#39;m going to Austria and Prague, maybe also Munich, for Christmas/New Year%26#39;s. Do I need to book rail tickets in advance? I%26#39;d prefer not to, because I%26#39;d like to be a bit flexible on the time we travel, but I don%26#39;t want to have to wait a day.

My trips are Vienna -%26gt; Salzburg and Salzburg -%26gt; Prague. We may go via Linz or Munich for a night on that trip.

At this time of year will we be ok just showing up on the day?

You only need to reserve tickets in advance for night trains. Others - just go to the station, buy a ticket and go to the next train for your destination.

This said, there are discounts of up to 50% if you book ahead for a certain train, stay over a weekend, and so on. Also there some special offers only bookable on the internet - see www.oebb.at - that also require advance booking for a certain train.

Hi... just get them at the station... there are ticket counters and ticket machines (only for national tickets)...

Mind, that from 11. December on, there will be a new 6 hours connection Salzburg-Prague (with one change at Linz). Just have a look at www.oebb.at (English... on top).
