Spanish Riding School

Any suggestions on the best tickets for the Spanish Riding School, bearing in mind my wife is horse crazy!

Look to www.srs.at in english too!

this website will give you much information on the Riding School , dates of performance and morning workouts, ticket info too!

For performances, perhaps the Royal Box- front row is one of the best places.

Morning exercise does not give reserved seating.

Often it is better to come a little later in the morning for this exercise.

Many tourists come early, wait a long time outside in a line, then watch horses only to leave after a relatively short time. Those coming later can walk immediately in.

One extra thing to do is the tour of stables, now much better than before. And you can stand nearby the walkway from stables to Riding School, just across the narrow street and get a good, up- close view of the horses as they walk to and fro.

Kia ora! First question: when will you be travelling to Wien? The Spanish Riding School are currently on tour in the US and won%26#39;t be performing again until February next year. But they will be doing loads of shows in 2006 so if you%26#39;re planning to travel then, you should be able to catch one.

They will be doing variations of morning training most mornings in the next few months; the schedule can be viewed on their website www.srs.at. Training is interesting (less so the Leichtes Bewegen, with just the very junior horses when the seniors are on tour), but if you can arrange your trip to coincide with a performance, it%26#39;s well worth doing.

It%26#39;s possible to order the tix direct from the School either using their online ordering system or emailing or faxing an order direct (with the advantage of not having to pay up front). I like the seats in the first gallery long side as they tend to have the best view (esp if you want to study it from a technical point of view, see the legs etc) - but if you want to push the boat out, front row of the Hofloge (royal box) is great and front frow of the Parterre (on the ground at the top of the school) gets you nice and close to the action (face full of tanbark).

The tour of the stables is also well worth doing for horsey fanatics; the Lipizzaner museum is less interesting.

Hope that helps as a start - please do ask if you have any specific questions.

Thanks for the help. We are there next June, so will go for the 25th performance. how long is the show, as we are moving on from Vienna straight after?

The shows last about 1hr 40 mins, so will end about 12.40. I%26#39;m going on the 25th too :)
