Is there a way to catch an hour or so worth of classical music somewhere? I love music and would love to catch some while in Vienna, but maybe not for a 3 hour concert or opera.

Look at the many Church Concerts -excelent music often free or limited cost.
As you tour , you will see numerous Churches with notices out front with information of Concerts to be held in the near future.
Examples- Augustiner Church in the Hofburg Palace complex near to the Spanish Riding School.
Minoriten Church - just behind the Ballhausplatz and at the U-3 ( subway) Herrengasse stop
Both are in the First District - Center City.
