le meridien vs Sacher

Okay, we%26#39;ve narrowed down our choice to two hotels.

I%26#39;m wondering if anyone has stayed at both and can give me a comparative of their experiences.

I%26#39;m not interested in staying somewhere because the rich and famous have been there..more interested in quality service for me..the unknown..?

We%26#39;ll have 2 teenagers (11 nad 15 with us) and need two so value for money is obviously an issue..

Comments anyone?

In my opinion Le Meridien is the better value, especially when you need two rooms.

While the Sacher is a better overall hotel, its price is much higher than LeMeridien.

Meridien often has web specials that would give you two rooms there for the price of one at the Sacher.

Sacher service may be slightly better, but Meridien is good too.

Both have excelent locations,( they are within 300 meters of each other- The Sacher just behind the Opera- Meridien on the Ringstrasse) are near to public transport and tourist sites.

The decor is much different.

The Sacher elegant international - vienna style. Meridien - modern and minimalist.

Look at reviews on trip advisor for more information and recent guest feedback.

The renovations to the Sacher are now complete.

Yes, the Rich and Famous stay at the Sacher and they have the Torte too!

But take the money you save and spend it on other things.

We stayed at the Meridien last December %26amp; loved it.

It is very modern which may appeal more to your teenagers (the beds are really comfy, huge TV and great shower!)

In room coffee and tea facilities.

The buffet breakfast was one of the best I%26#39;ve ever had in a hotel - chefs on hand to cook your omelette to order right in front of you. Had reindeer in the restaurant for dinner - delicious.

Lots of funky, arty types hang out in the bar.

Staff helpful (in a reservered Austrian way!) - they even couriered to me my I-Pod I%26#39;d left in the room.

Walking distance to all tourist sites and Christmas markets.

We got a good deal by booking on Le Meridien%26#39;s website.

Enjoy!

Forgot to mention- Le Meridien has am in door pool and health facilities too!

Thanks Vertical and Princess Lush,

I think we may go with Le Meridien. We can stay at the Sacher in Salzburg and still have some of the %26quot;Sacher experience%26quot;.

My biggest concern is usually service and staff being good. Returning the ipod and quick responses to my emails are tipping the balance.
