Skiing day trip to Austria from Munich

I%26#39;m planning on taking a day trip from Munich to somewhere in eastern Austria to go skiing in late December. Any suggestions on good mountains in that area within easy reach of public transport?

For a day trip I would recommend Zugspitzplatt - you have to go to Garmisch and change for the rack railway to Zugspitze. It%26#39;s not in Austria, granted, but it is very nice and a bit closer. Very high, so you have guaranteed good snow quality.

You can take a train from the Munich Hauptbahhof to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Train schedules and fares are at: http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en

I would definitely go to Kitzbuehel (the place of the world´s most famous downhill race). Railway from Munich to Kitzbuehel (change trains once?) check www.db.de, and www.oebb.at. There is even a train stop right next to the Hahnenkamm in Kitzbuehel!
