Vienna for school children

Hello

I am a Teacher planning a foreign trip for 30 pupils aged 13-18. Vienna is clearly a beautiful city full of culture and places of historical interest but I could do with some advice on how to sell the city to teenagers whose idea of a good time tends to involve theme parks.

Thanks in anticipation

It´s a tough group, there is a lot going on for younger children.

I would know some bar/clubs where the Viennese teenager go but that´s definately not what you want to hear (-_^)

maybe they know the singer FALCO (with his song AMADEUS). He was born in Vienna.

Do a 3rd Man (Dritte Man) Tour through Vienna´s underground and you can watch the film before coming here.

The movie The Three Musketeers (1993) was mainly filmed here.

Of course you can go to PRATER with them

Vienna has something for everyone. 13-18 included. Music , culture, history etc. Perhaps that is the best %26quot; Sales Tool%26quot; --Everyone will find many things they like. Also , Vienna is a very safe city. You can walk on the streets without fear. Especially important to parents and young ladies.

A big plus is the safe and inexpensive transit system. They can go anywhere in the city in just minutes

Many young men like to visit the Military Museum, technical museum, perhaps a sports event.

Many places to swim in summer, jog ,roller blade or bike along the Danube.

Many bikes to rent and just pedal around the city on designated bike paths.

Many music venues from Rock to Jazz to Classics. Opera

The Prater- a fun time for everyone. ( summer) not your usual theme park - giant ferris wheel too!

You do not mention when you visit - many seasonal things such as ice skating rinks, outdoor markets , and out door theater.

Be warned drinking age for beer and wine is 16- I know you wanted to know that too!

next to 3 Musketeers and Third Man

there are also

The Living Daylights

I think they will also enjoy the SEEGROTTE in Hinterbrühl (outside of Vienna)

here the homepage: www.seegrotte.at/002_englisch/frameset.htm

as mentioned before the Technisches Museum might be interesting. here is the homepage: www.technischesmuseum.at/default.asp…

A part of Kunsthistorische Museum is the Collection of Arms and Armour. Homepage: http://www.khm.at/homeE5.html

you can visit the romans ruins at Hohe Markt. The german homepage : www.wienmuseum.at/start/Roemische_Ruinen.htm

The prater itself is not only the amusement part but also a large park. So you can rent bicycles and make a trip throught it. More informations here: www.wien.gv.at/english/parks/prateren.htm
