Christmas 2005 in Seefeld

Can anyone tell me the answers to these questions?

A group of us will be spending Christmas %26amp; New Year in Seefeld

1. Will the lifts close over Christmas?

2.Does anyone know of any English speaking Church carol services on Christmas eve in Seefeld?

3. If travelling from Munich to Seefeld, is the train the best way to get there?

4. We are self catering - will there be a supermarket open on 24 Dec?

Any help or info will be much appreciated

Hi,

My husband and I have spent many holidays in Seefeld, including last Christmas and we are going again this Christmas. In response to your questions:

1. The lifts won%26#39;t close - everything is open on Christmas day as per usual

2. I don%26#39;t think there are English services in the Churches on Christmas Eve - why not just go along and take part in the german service (although I do believe it is quite long!)

3. We are also flying into Munich this year and travelling by train. The www.oebb.at site will give you train times - you can either go via Innsbruck and change or get the local train throug Garmisch Partenkirchen. There is less messing about if you don%26#39;t go through Innsbruck and the trains are super-efficient. Are you flying into Munich with BA? Which date are you going? There may end up quite a few of us all going to Seefeld together!

4. I%26#39;m positive I saw the supermarket open last year on 24th December. Are you aware that the big celebration in Seefeld is 24th and not 25th December? The 25th tends to be a much quieter family day - I suppose in the same way as we celebrate New Year%26#39;s eve here and not new year%26#39;s day.

If you want more info you can e-mail me directly on g.woodhead@hautlieu.sch.je

Have a brilliant holiday.

Regards.

GMW

My sister lives in Innsbruck, and I have been to Austria for a fare few years!

1. The lifts will be open over the period.

2. No, sorry there are services, but not in English, but go along , they are great.

3. You are much better off getting a mini bus. Door to door and much cheaper. Four Seasons have a desk at Munich airport and it costs between 70 to 75 euros per person return.

4. Shops close midday on Christmas Eve, so beware!

My wife and I will be going to Seefeld again this year (I think that makes about ten years in a row). We always enjoy our stay. The Spar supermarket closes at 4:00 PM on Christmas Eve day. The stores are open on Christmas and Boxing day. That%26#39;s what%26#39;s nice about Seefeld. Everything is open much more than most Austrian villages. There is a great parade in Igls on the 23rd at 6:00 PM. Innsbruck has music at 5:30 in the old town Golden Dachl. We always rent a car in Munich. It is fairly inexpensive, and it%26#39;s great driving the Autobahn. The midnight mass on Christmas Eve is rather long and in German, but it is an impressive event. After that in the town square they have music (brass) playing Christmas carols from balconies of a hotel. Don%26#39;t miss the indoor/outdoor pool. It%26#39;s great to sit in the hot outdoor pool and watch the sun set on the mountains. Anymore information just send an email to my address jdmckay4@mchsi.com
