Salzurg to Soll - Winter 2005/6

I really like the look of Soll and would like to fly into Salzburg. Is there anyway I can travel between Salzburg and Soll?? Is it expensive? Also, does anyone know of an sites where I can just book a hotel? Everyone seems to want to sell me a flight and I%26#39;m ok for flights!! Thanks a lot - deanomc.

You should be able to manage this - you can get the train from Salzburg to Kufstein and then get a bus to Soll. The train website www.oebb.at will give you information for the whole journey if you just plug in Salzburg to Soll. Looks like it takes about 2-2.5 hrs I don%26#39;t think it would be hugely expensive - maybe 30 euros one way (it costs 25,80 euros for the train one way and then slap a busfare on top).

If you just want to book hotels in the Tirol I%26#39;d try www.tiscover.at the official Austrian tourism site. I booked a hotel in Pertisau through them. For Salzburg, if you are planning to spend any time there, I%26#39;d prefer www.hrs.de or the Salzburg tourist information website booking engine (see www2.salzburg.info). In Austria I always find it%26#39;s cheaper to book either through an Austrian/German booking site or with the hotel direct than booking a package from the UK.

Hope that helps!

PS Have you looked at the Soll website www.soell.at?

That%26#39;s got an accommodation database too.

Looks really pretty there!

soll really easy to get to from salzburg an hour or so by bus, its good but a little chavvy, excellent nightlife and skiing, cannot fault it,some hotels pick up at airport so check when booking. if you speak german it helps, as for booking hotels most seem full, so hurry up

Soll is equally as well served by Munich airport and offers far more flights (I think around 30 a day!).

Train from Munich to Kufstein or Worgl can be done for euro 56 for up to 5 people return.

taxi from Kufstein or Worgl around 20 Euros.

Soll is most certainly NOT Chav. There are many English peopole now making their home there to escape from Chav. Word of advice though, avoid the Ski Reps pub crawls as this could indeed be seen as edging on chav!

We have stayed a couple of times in Soell and stayed at the hotel Feldwebel right in the square next to the free ski bus stop. They do a weeks half board at a great price. Excellent food and the rooms are roomy and comfy. Central location, friendly and good value.
