Vienna newbies

We are in the planning stages of a trip next November to Vienna. What is your favorite part of visiting Vienna? We would like to plan attending a concert where is the best experience? How easy is it to get around and what companies offer tours and cars from the airport? We have made several trips to Europe so any advice that you experienced Vienna travelers would be most welcome as it is our first to this city and we are really looking forward to it. (We will be using an exchange so we do not need hotel reccomendations) Thanks everyone!

Look on this site for various ways to transfer from the airport to the city.

Personally I prefer the car service as it is good especially after a tiring flight from the USA .

They meet you in the Arrivals Hall, assist with luggage and deliver you to your door.

Public transport in Vienna is very good.

You can buy 1, 3 or 7 day tickets that provide service on all bus, streetcar and subway ( U-bahn lines) You can reach all tourist sights, shopping etc. on this system.

A good way to be introduced to the city is to take the streetcar 1 or 2. This 20 minute ride lets you see many historic places, parks,

sights.

A bus service- Hop-on hop- off is another way to become acquainted with the city. They go to all major tourist sights- Bus can be found in front of the State Opera.

While you can not get the schedule for next November- you can learn a little about each now.

To me, one of the nice things about Vienna is its city center ( First District- Innenstadt)

Just to walk on the old streets, looking at the buiding styles, people watching ; stopping at a cafe for a drink and pastry; perhaps looking in some antique shops.

You will enjoy the city!
