Can a ski trip be done in one day

We are soending 2 nights in Innsbruck during our European trip in mid December, the first day we planning on visiting the local attractions. Our hotel is the Leipzigerhof which I believe is in the towns%26#39; centre . We would like to try some skiing the 2nd day or snowboarding or basically anything fun in the snow. Bare in mind that we will be absolutely hopeless as it would be a first . I have never even seen snow! So it will be more about for fun . Is this at all possible or will we just have to be spectators? Will our 5yr old daughter be accomodated to have some fun. Also if this indeed is possible do you need special clothes and can want rent this at the holiday resort . Lastly if possible which resort will be the best for us - we will have our own transport .

One option could be to take the train from Innsbruck to Seefeld (train details on www.obb.at). If you have never skied/boarded before I would suggest you don%26#39;t try if you only have one day. Why not just enjoy the mountains, try some winter walking or sledging. Have a look at www.seefeld.at plus the Seefeld Forum.

Skiing is a definitely possible or at least a bobsled ride down the Olympic run for 30 € each at Patscherkofel. Patscherkofel ski area is 15 minutes SE of Innsbruck by way of Tram (street car) J in Igls. It is a good area for beginners.

The website for the Best Western Parkhotel Leipzigerhof is http://www.parkhotel-leipzigerhof.at/

Click on English and then click on Location for directions to the hotel. The hotel is in the old town and a short walk to the tram stops.

You definitely want to get the 48-hour Innsbruck Card. In addition to free transportation, free entrance to all the museums, Palaces and churches; you can, for free, take the #1 Tram all way to the south end and visit the Bergisel Stadium (Olympic Ski Jump area/opens at 09:00). It is a however a very steep hike up to the staduim area from the tram stop so do it while your legs are still fresh. Then take the #1 tram all the way to the north end and take the Hungerburg Funicular Railway + Nordkette Cableway to Seegrube and have lunch overlooking Innsbruck. It is a fabulous view. Midway on the funicular you can get off and visit the Alpenzoo. With the card you could also ride to the top of Patscherkofel. www.innsbruck-tourism.at/index.html…
