Cheap & Good skii slopes in Austria?

Hi there,

I%26#39;m thinking about taking 2~3 days to ski sometime in early january, somewhere in Austria. From what I%26#39;ve read in LonelyPlanet, Austria has some good cheap slopes in Upper Austria and Carinthia.

I%26#39;m actually going to be traveling from Berlin by car to Austria, and would prefer a place closer to Vienna b/c I want to do some sightseeing there. Also my girlfriend has never skii%26#39;d before, so I really don%26#39;t think an extravagant skii slope is necessary, just affordable... we%26#39;re grad students.

Also if someone knows of better slopes around Berlin please let me know.

thanks for the reply. I would also like to go outside of holiday season, but I don%26#39;t think i%26#39;ll have that luxury b/c I too am on holiday vacation.

planning on skii-ing around 1/4~1/8 sometime then.

I%26#39;m also considering the Bavarian alps.
