Post-Christmas Closings in Salzburg

We%26#39;ll be arriving in Salzburg on the afternoon of December 25. Staying thru December 28.

What should we expect about closings on December 26? Restaurants? Sights?

Many thanks in advance.

We are making plans for next Christmas in Salzburg and I have talked to 3 hotels so far. They have all said the Christmas celebration is Dec. 24, on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, restaurants are open as usual and there are many concerts planned. The ski busses run also on Christmas day for either skiing or sighseeing. I%26#39;m not sure why you mentioned Dec. 26 - but that should be a normal day. You should not have any problem.

December 26 is not a normal day in Austria as mentioned above- It is also an official Holiday- Stefanitag.

Most shops, businesses, banks, government offices are closed.

Many facilities that cater to tourist will be open however.

Finding a restaurant s will be no problem.

Leave time for shopping in the many nice stores.

Also note that the ski bus leaves from a location near Mirabell Park- cost 13 euros per person. This does not include lift ticket or equipment.

The bus trip takes 1- 2 hours each way depending on destination- a full day trip.

I did not know about the December 26 holiday. None of the 3 hotels I spoke to mentioned it to me, probably because we do plan on taking the snow bus and that would not be affected. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Are banks closed that day?

Banks are closed on the 26th.

Many ATMs are available if you need cash.
