Reponses from lodging in Hallstadt?

I%26#39;m planning a trip to Austria in September 05 and I%26#39;ve emailed 6 different places in Hallstatt and only heard back from one of them? Is it better to call places in this location? I%26#39;ve been making all my reservations through email and this is the only town that I%26#39;m not receiving responses from. Any advice/suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!

I realize it has been a long time since your posting but I am new to TripAdvisor and you have not received any replys. Eventhough you have probably already made plans for your visit perhaps you will get this and it will help.

The official Website for Hallstatt is at:

the Webcam is at:

the weather forecast is at:

On our visit in April 2004, we stayed at the the family managed Gasthof Zauner-Seewirt. The office is on the 1st floor just ring the bell. There is no elevator but a young man took our bags up to the 4th floor. It was very nice and the in-house restaurant/breakfast room on the 2nd floor was fine. In August the prices are 46 to 50 Euros per person/room.

Their Website is:

www.zauner.hallstatt.net/index.php3?lang=en

It is located just off the town square as shown in the picture. Put your pointer on the picture and you get another picture of the room balconys.

If you are arriving by train, get off at the train stop (truely just a stop out in the open with a small covering) and walk down to the ship landing. The boat will be waiting and after crossing the Hallstattersee you will arrive at the town landing. From there walk 20 yards up to the corner of the church, then left along the street about 30 yards to the square on the right, then across the square to the door as in the picture. If you are coming by car they will get you a pass so you can park close by in town.

Besides the Salt mine and the Bone House, for sightseeing, I would suggest the Hallstatt Sightseeing (Aussichtskarte View) Ticket. This is for a tour around the lake for by ship AND the funicular tram up to the Salt mine. Im not sure of the cost here but the tram normally cost 8.50 Euro and the lake tour 7 Euros. Info for this is at:

hallstatt.net/schiffahrt/…

Besides the Official Hallstatt site, general info about the area and the Salt Mine tour (18.50 Euros) is at:

salzwelten.at/cont/salzwelten/en_salzwelten_…

While up touring the Salt mine have lunch at Rudolfsturm Tower and enjoy the beautiful view over the lake.

We have just returned from a visit that included a day trip to Hallstatt. We had lunch at Zauner and it was good food with smooth service. There isn%26#39;t a great view, probably better view from the rooms on the upper floors. It is over a quiet street and we sat out on the balcony. Excellent.

We had a tea time coffee and Strudel at the long terrace by the lake - good food and an indoor dining room for later.

The village is very busy with day visitors until about 4 pm when they vanish as though someone had turned a switch. If you want to get the peace of the place I recommend an overnight stay. We met a number of people while travelling who had done this.

A number of visitors come by train and boat and this worked well for us. We went for the next to last departuture to be certain but there was plenty of space for all.
