Romance in Vienna

Considering honeymooning in Vienna for several days mid-October. I%26#39;d love suggestions for romantic hotels and restaurants. Thank you!

How about the Wachau instead? Krems, Dürnstein, or Melk would be a very cozy, intimate place for a honeymoon.

We are also honeymooning in Vienna in the second half of October. We are starting with 3 days in Prague, one day in Melk, 3 days in Vienna, and 3 days in Budapest. Melk should definitely be seen, by all accounts. Vienna is absolutely gorgeous. If you can make a furlough to Prague, it%26#39;s a terribly romantic city as long as you don%26#39;t stay near Wenceslas Square or go on the weekends (the times for stag/hen parties to appear). Regarding restaurants, we%26#39;re still researching that too and would appreciate any recommendations! One luxury restaurant we%26#39;re considering is Steirereck, but there is also Do %26amp; Co. with its incredible view of the Stephansdom. Can anyone rate the food at these restaurants for us? Thank you!

This may be a little late for yaya 77, but maybe Alexawilhelmina will still find it useful:

Based on limited but recent experience (last month), for upscale restaurants in Vienna we%26#39;d recommend Morwald im Ambassador and also Korso in the Hotel Bristol. Not traditional Austrian, but high-end modern European with Austrian flavors, ingredients, and accents.

But if you love outstanding North Italian food, not to be missed is the Cantinetta Antinori, run by the Florentine wine family of that name (they have a similar restaurant in the Palazzo Antinori in Florence). In addition to the food, what%26#39;s special is that almost every wine made or sold under an Antinori label (exept the very most expensive, like Sassacaia) is available by the glass. So, especially if you and your spouse-to-be are willing to share glasses, you can taste your way through a great array of fine Italian wines to accompany your multi-course fine N. Italian meal.

We couldn%26#39;t work in a dinner at Steirereck, but did take lunch in an unusual room there called the Maiereri or Dairy, featuring the largest range of fine cheeses (Austrian, French, German, Italian, Spanish, etc., etc., etc.) we%26#39;ve ever seen anywhere, offered in a variety of assortment platters. Along with a bowl of excellent soup, you couldn%26#39;t ask for a nicer lunch. And if you love fine cheeses, this is an absolute must. (Note that Steirereck is no longer where the guidebooks say it is, having moved earlier this year to the premises of an old dairy farm right in the middle of the Stadtpark just off the Ring -- hence %26quot;Maiereri%26quot; for the cheese operation.)

Congratulations on your wedding, and enjoy the trip.

(Ttlms -- Hello there, and welcome back. Was that you we saw in shorts on the Graben around noon that warmish Tuesday, Sept. 13? Hope the fashion police didn%26#39;t get you, and that you had as wonderful a holiday as we did.)

Hope that this is not too late either!!!

I have had a few trips to Vienna on business and am planning another in a few weeks but this time socially.

The recommendation I would make for dinner is %26quot;The White Chimney Sweep%26quot; near Stephansplatz - ask the hoel concierge and he will point you in the right direction and give you the translation.

Great food and wine and a fantasic selection of free dishes to whet your appetite and pumpkin seed nibbles.

Congrautlations and enjoy!!!
