Best transport advice please from airport to hotel as above. Also on how to get from hotel to Ernst Happel Stadium - can we walk or is transport necessary?

Hmm, tricky! Barring lots of luggage and a large party that makes a taxi the best choice (or an advance-hire transfer which is the cheaper option - see Vertical%26#39;s recommendations elsewhere in the forum) I suggest you catch the airport schnellbahn train S7 to Wien Nord and then either get a cab from there to the hotel or (for determined public transport enthusiasts) ride one stop on the underground U1 to Vorgartenstrasse and then you can walk to the hotel from there (not far - or take the 11A bus in the direction of Heligenstadt just one stop, and get off at Walcherstrasse) That will cost 3 euros per person, including the ubahn and bus journeys. The hotel is about half a block north from the Mexikoplatz, on the right hand side (and if you want to know how I know this stuff, take a look at http://www.wien.gv.at/stadtplan/)
Going to the Stadion I think it probably is a bit far to walk ... I suggest taking bus 11A from Walcherstrasse bus stop in the opposite direction to Elderschplatz (last stop) and transferring there to tram 21 which goes to the Stadion (direction Praterkai). Costs 1.50 euros per person one way (including the tram journey - transfers are free).
