Vienna Hotel Location New Years Break

Hi,

A group of us (approx 14) are planning to go to Vienna for New Years Eve party. We were wondering where is the best part of Vienna for us to stay? We would like to be near restaurants, bars, shops etc.

Also can anyone recommend apartments or an apartment website - this would be so much better than staying in hotels.

since the new years eve trail (www.wien.info/article.asp?IDArticle=10171) is in the first district you got the most expensive hotels there. Better is you move to the 2nd district where you can walk or take a tram to the first district.

A part of the public transport will also run the whole night.
